Chartiers Valley High School athletic director Frank Vulcano Jr. is a favorite among local media. He's always been a gracious host and he takes care of us grunts.
Vulcano also makes good decisions.
Chartiers Valley hosted the WPIAL Class AA semifinal between Beaver Falls and North Catholic as well as a Girls AA semi between South Park and Washington Wednesday night. For those who have never been to CV, the gym is a two-story deal.
Students were sent upstairs to cheer for their respective teams. For the high schoolers, it might have been an inconvenience but it prevented abusive behavior from student sections.
In other words, thanks to a heads-up decision at Chartiers Valley, there was no chance to duplicate the happenings of last Saturday's South Fayette-Jeannette contest.
