Canon-Mac vs. Moon, Part III

Pittsburgh Central Catholic trailed Moon for much of the second half during Friday night’s WPIAL Class AAAA championship game at the Palumbo Center but the Vikings rallied for a 55-54 victory.
Due to Central Catholic’s win, Canon-McMillan (18-8) draws Moon (20-7) in the first round of the PIAA playoffs on Saturday, March 1 with a site and time to be determined.
It’s the first trip to the state playoffs for the Big Macs, who split their season series with Moon. The Tigers won the Section 4 championship, while C-M finished second.

Interesting draw and location for the CM boys. CM’s pervious trip to NA, the Big Macs walked away win on a last minute shot by Murphy. CM’s victory over Moon was a last minute shot by Murphy. Can Murphy make it a last second trifecta?

The best student section in the WPIAL will represent AGAIN. In what had to a moment in student section history, the Crazies at the Ctrl Catholic took over the gym. WE ARE THE TIGER WOODS OF STUDENT SECTIONS IN THE WPIAL.

This game seem to be a big match up. But I think the key to the game with which coach will make the correct adjustment. Coach Bell is a great coach, and has the experience of playing in the State's before. CM will have to adjust, the states are different the wpial or section game. And for a team never being there before it is an adjustment. I am a Monessen and Hiller fan, so I wish Coach Bell and the Big Mac's the best of luck. Go get them.

ahhh this one should be good. Moon is comign off a heartbreaker but i expect them to be all business. Theyve been in the state tournament the past 6+ years so this is nothing new to that program. CM on the other hand lucked their way into the state tournament thanks to CC beating Mck. As for the coaching aspect, its hard to place anyone ahead of Ackerman. I think Walsh is gonna bounce back after his subpar game in the championship. I'll say Moon 63 CM 61...

The state playoff are the high school version of March Madness. Coach have seen each other a few times this year as well as the players, they knowing each other very well. This is new grounds for CM and stakes are high. The great thing going for CM is Coach Bell has been there. This could be the final game for some of the players. This time the losers goes home. There is no tomorrow. The presure will be high at the start of the game, The team that settles down will be the team with the early advantage. Both coaches will have to make the adjustment on defense to stop quick burst for scoring. Fans will be going crazy, and it will be loud. I seen this with Monessen and Trinity. The turning point in the Trinity Uniontown games a few years back was a Techincal foul that was not called agaist a Uniontown player. It turn the game around, Trinity was up, but it was a 6 point swing. When Coach Dunn was called for protesting the call he was hit with the Tech. And Monessen, I seen this small town school pack the gyms. The fans come from everywhere. It is a new season. Just hope Mike pick Moon to win this game.
