Ringgold Varsity and junior varsity basketball team has a total of 9 players on the team. It seems a coaching change would be necessary or the program may get to the point where there isnt one.

I am not even sure Coach Logan wants to be there. He had several kids quit the team the last few years. Even his team that made the playoffs was 8-15 (or around that record.)

Does the school board even attend any of the games?? Whoever takes over Coach Logan is going to have even a tougher job because the program is going to be even in worse shape than when he first took over.

Trinity Boys team is really doing great this season. With Valentic shooting the ball and Songer down low, they have proven hard to be beat. Friday's game at BV was spectacular. I feel they really showed how tough of a team they are and that they can win even with Valentic covered. It was great to see other players such as Edwards and Capo step up and make big time plays and do some of the scoring. they proved their a clutch basketball team. Can't wait to see what this team is like in the playoffs.

I know I'm not giving my name but I was at a game tonight and heard from a very reliable source that the Peters principal hates Goga and wants him out.

That doesn't make much sense to me. Coach Goga led PT to its first WPIAL title last year and the Indians have a good chance to finish second in their section this year.

Let's also factor in that the PT lineup doesn't have a starter taller than 6-1, something Goga refuses to use as an excuse for anything.

Crazy.

Then you need to consider the incredibly small number of teams from the area with WPIAL championships in the last 25 years (Washington and Ringgold).

Lets also not forget the history of the Peters principal. It wouldn't be the first person he got rid of unjustly

how did fort cherry hang in there with south fayette until the second half. props for them trying

Why aren't the Fort Cherry girls on this list?? They are 7-3 and there only losses were to ringgold canon-mac and canevin...they should easily be on this list...they gave ringgold, one of the best teams in quad A, a run for there money and fc has a young team...guess they have to beat serra to prove something, they already beat two of the top teams msa had in single a. So maybe a little bit of credit would be nice. The great Chartiers Houston team they beat and they did that with 6 players...

The situation at Ringgold is a shame....For a school with over 1200 students, they have a basketball team with 9 players (both JV and Varsity combined).....

Blame has to be spread around.......Kids are quitting on Logan at an alarming pace over three seasons....This season, a starter quit in December (this young man was avg in double figures so playing time isnt an issue)...This same player is also the starting QB for the football team...Adults close to the family dont understand it either and were against the player quitting....There have been 3 or 4 kids quit just this season alone...And its not just the coach....The parents need to grow a set and demand that their kids honor the committment they made when they decided to play..If the kid doesnt want to play next yr, then by all means sit out...But when a kid starts a season then quits, hes quitting on himnself, his coach, his school, his teammates....And the parents probably not only sit by but encourage it or it wouldnt be happening at such an alarming rate in this district....

Maybe it's the coach? kids just dont quit like that...

@ Anon.....You're not familiar with Ringgold are you? Its a school district where things like this seem to happen more often than they should...The head-scratching type decisions...

Im not a Pete Logan apologist.....Ive never met the man - he did win a WPIAL title at Clairton but obviously he had the horses to do so.....Im not going out on a limb when I say that he probably shares some of the blame here....But when a starter quits a month into the season and the parents dont agree with the kid's decision and dont understand why either, you cant blame the coach only....On a personal note, if this was my kid, no way in hell is he quitting on his team....No way....Some blame of kids quitting (and not just this situation) goes to the parents for allowing them to bail at the first sign of adversity...

Way back a hundred yrs ago when I had kids, I was in a similar situation...A son of mine wanted to quit a particular sport due to a personality conflict with the coach.. ...I told him that if he didnt want to play the following season, it was his decision, but he wasnt bailing out on his team in mid-season when he already made a commitment to them. too many parents these days are enablers and allow the kids to be spoiled brats and take their ball and go home at the first time something doesnt go their way....

Your right it is ALWAYS the coachs fault. It is NEVER the kids fault he or she just quit on there team. Coach must of yelled at them for doing something wrong and instead of taking responsiblty and working to correct the mistake they just quit and the parents agreed because there son or daughter has NEVER done anything wrong.
