I like your 1A lineup but mine looks just a little different.

1 Rochester- simply the best team until beaten

2 Laurel- sure they lost to Rochy but they still beat the Bears

3 Clairton- has looked unbeatable since losing to Laurel

4 Springdale- after a slow start they are starting to look better after beating a good Avonworth team.

5 Fort Cherry- They are still a good team regardless of Friday's outcome. They'll be around come playoff team and I think they make a solid run in the playoffs. Only problem is Clairton, Laurel and Rochy stand in their way.

I don't think that I would put McGuffey at #5 in AA. I am a diehard Highlander fan, but think Charleroi should be ranked higher after the big win at Jeannette. I guess we will see what McGuffey has the next two weeks with Jeannette and Charleroi back to back.

i disagree with anon. about mcguffey. charleroi got pounded by greensburg cc and mcguffey shut them down. i think if mcguffey can find a consistant offense, they can do some damage in the post season. jeanette had not played anyone yet until charleroi. i keep telling people not to count out greensburg cc they still have a good team. the interstate conferance is getting tighter. wash high will have to play flawless to make the playoffs. no matter what people think, they definitly have the athletes to compete. they are young. unfortunatly for the the other teams quinton briggs is also young.

It is very difficult to gauge how good the McGuffey team is. I watched them against GCC,Brownsville and S.Allegheny and yes, they played a super game against GCC,but as I said in an earlier post, McG seems to play their best against GCC. As for Brownsville & S. Allegheny, those two teams are horrible with absolutely no offense or defense.
The other weak McG played was E. Allegheny and the Highlanders did not blow them away. Which brings up a question about E.Allegheny. I was able to catch the end of the Wash High/E. Allegheny game on the radio and heard the game announcer say that E. Allegheny had more players on the sidelines dressed in street clothing than they had dressed for the game. What was up with that? Were a bunch of players injured or suspended?

Don't get on the Charleroi bus just yet. They beat Jeanette on a sloppy field with several Jeanette starters not playing due to a situation at the school last week. Mt. Pleasant has a senior loaded, solid team. GCC is enormous and have a D-1 QB. McGuffey is also senior heavy and play great defense. Don't count Jeanette out for that 4th spot. I can see Charleroi possibly losing 3 of the next 4.

dont be misled by jeannette beating teams 60 to 7 or whatever. for some reason jeanette likes to run up the score on teams. last year aginst wash high they were beating them 28-0 with 2 minutes to play in the 1st half and they were calling time outs on defense. wash high could have scored 70 against e allegheny and brownsville this year they just chose not to. i havnt seen jeanette yet this year, i know they have athletes but i dont think they are as good as last year.

Go Wash High !!!

Best of luck to you also......

Looking forward to the week nine showdown between the Highlanders and Prexies.

Mcguffey and Charleroi both have to play Waynesburg, and that is no easy task!

good luck to all the washington county teams we need to start representing. i like mcguffeys chances against jeanette.

Ringgold might be able stun CV with their QB most likely being out for the year.

East Allegheny had 8 players ineligble due to attendance at the end of last year. They became eligible last week against Mt. Pleasant and still gave up 50 points. The 8 ineligible are all Duquesne kids, so they added some speed, but I would think they are going to have in-house problems by plugging these guys in now.

Char Valley is a well rounded team with a lot of good athletes. Rob Lamonde filled in nicely for Capers and he runs the spread option very well. The Colts defense is also a strong unit.

Ringgold is alot better than people think...I'm a TJ fan and Ringgold was very physical; they were alot better this year than I thought they would be. Their biggest problem right now is that they are young - they will continue to improve. I think Ringgold has a better chance to beat CV than you are giving them.

Chatiers Valley should have lost to WM, and they gave up 21 to BVA - it should have been more than that but a few untimely penalties saved them. Their defense is average at best.

Capers made so many unbelieveable plays with his legs - I just can't imagine how they will replace that kind of production on offense. No knock on Lamonde, but he just doesn't run like Capers does.

It might be considered an upset, but I can honestly see Ringgold winning that game. Remember, CV plays TJ on Thursday night next week - they better not be looking ahead.

I wish some teams would win with class like TJ does. TJ manhandles 95% of their opponents, and I was part of a team that got completely demolished by TJ. After the game though, all of their players were the definition of classy. They went on the field, did their business, and acted respectable anytime thereafter. I like that and I am glad that a program like that continues to have success.

anon TJ fan. you came close to calling the upset of Ringgold over CV. Ringgold fell short by 2 points. in the last 2 years, Ringgold's lost to CV by a total of 3 points. thats rough

I was at the game - for the life of me I couldn't figure out why they kept starting drives off with that stretch - belly play. It became kind of predictable. They needed some kind of spark, and Patch did everything he could; they just needed someone else to help him out.

The Rams defense did a great job in the second half - their offense let them down a little bit.

They are a young group overall, they will get better. As long as the administration doesn't force those kids through more upheval as far as the coaching situation goes - they should be much improved next year.

ringgold got lucky to score on the 2 long runs and cv was looking ahead to the tj game when you lose to EF your season is over keep hearing the same story wait till next year there young so are the PIRATES
