Why would a ref go into the crowd to tell a fan to settle down? He was asking for trouble. Why not go to the authorities and have the authorities talk to the rowdy fans? Stupid move by the ref that should've been avoided.
I work with a guy who coaches and lives in Monaca. He said the ref provoked it. He also found out after the fact the ref is a state trooper or cop on the side and basically knew he could count on the cops to taze the guy when this got physical. The same ref also flipped the bird to fans after the game while leaving.Classy dude.
From 2 previous posts it sounds as though the ref was at fault. But, on the other hand, someone needs to take control of unruly fanslike these. Like the calls or not, there is no need for his type of behavior. He deserved to be tazed.
"he deserved to be tazed"?for arguing with an official that came in the stands after him??
I agree anon. But the ref should've done things the proper way. He should've contacted the authorities to take care of the unruly fan.
Mikes Fan, I agree both ways ! However, fans get caught up in the game and want there team to win thats reality. It happens at all sporting events. The ref shouldn't get caught up in the game with the players or fans, he's there to be a ref not to control unruly fans, Security should have been notified and the problem would have been taken care of I'm certain the school pays to have security at every sport event for that reason ?Maybe are REF needs to be a security gaurd at the next game seems that he want's to worry about the fans.
That person is a uniformed officer. The official forgot he had a whistle that night...Not a badge. What a joke.
