State rankings are funny.
I can't comment on the other classifications; but in AAA, I know for a fact that Chartiers Valley is better than West York, and Hopewell is better than Selinsgrove.

Selinsgrove for instance, only plays 4 out of their 9 regular season games against AAA teams - the rest of their schedule is made up of AA teams. Imagine if say Trinity could play 5 AA teams during the regular season - I guarantee they'd have more than one win.

I know they can't help what their schedule is, but it seems kind of crazy to rank a team in that situation that high; yet it happens every year. Then they usually go and lose to TJ or someone like Franklin Regional in the state playoffs. Go figure.

I know everyone has their state rankings - but they really aren't all that accurate until around Thanksgiving at the earliest.

There's no way they've seen many of these teams play. Nor have I ever been contacted by anyone at the Patriot-News for my input on rankings, etc. Not really sure how they put them together other than I always thought there was a slant toward District 3 teams being ranked higher than deserved and a nod toward teams with tradition.

For my money, Mt. Pleasant should be in the Class AA Top 10.

Rod Frisco does a good job locally. It's extremely hard to compile statewide. My Class A top 5would look a little different than his. I'm not sure how Serra made 10th on his list as well.

And no love for unbeaten South Fayette, which has handed two of the teams that are in the others receiving votes in Class AA their only losses.

Burgettstown 21
Clairon 0
The Blue Devil defense will be deafening.
BOOM!

the only way burgettstown shuts out clairton is if the blue devils pay the bus drivers taking the bears to the game to get lost.
