Wash High opens varsity football coaching positions

The Washington School Board voted Monday night to open all of the high football coach positions.

Bill Britton had been the head football coach for six years before the decision was made to reopen the position.

The vote came after a lengthy executive session.

Britton, a long-time Prexies assistant before becoming head coach in 2003, had a career record of 27-30-1 and he guided Washington to the WPIAL Class AA quarterfinals in 2005. In 2008, Washington finished 1-8 – its worst record since 1969.

Coach Britton is a class act and a great coach, it is a shame the District didn't recognize that. Bill, I have room on my staff if you need somewhere to land.

Coach Britton is a class act and a first-class coach. It's a shame this situation came to this.

Class Act and First Class Coach who has many talented athletes in the Washington School District but he doesn't know what to do with them. The Wash High football program needs a change, maybe more athletes will WANT to play football since Britton is gone.

why is it that people who have negative comments never leave their name? the no-namers are the type of people that think quality character players that help teams win do not play because of a coach.

Who cares the coach got fired time to move on. It happens its life.

Washington has a lot of athletes they will be good very soon regardless who coaches the team.

Most of you high school coaches dont know anything anyways. I realized this once I started playing college ball how dumb you all are.

My comment wasn't negative. It was truthful. Oh and by the way, looks like Britton isn't the track and field coach this season.
