Trinity's Frey injured

Sophomore running back/defensive back Patrick Frey was injured during the second half of Trinity's tough 27-26 home loss to Belle Vernon in the Big Eight Conference.

Frey, who had 59 yards rushing when injured, was on crutches after the game and his left foot was wrapped.

I overheard either a trainer or someone on the medical staff tell Trinity coach Ed Dalton that it looked like a break and Frey would most likely miss four weeks. School rules prohibit Dalton from discussing specifics, so he was not able to comment on his status following the game.

It's a big blow for the Hillers, who dropped to 0-2 in conference play following the injury. Frey's injury also gives Eric Richards more opportunities to carry the football. Richards spent his freshman and parts of his sophomore season at Trinity before transferring to Avella. He returned to Trinity recently, and has played against Chartiers Valley and Belle Vernon.

Unfortunately, it doesn't get easier for Trinity, as Central Valley is no easy foe.

True, Central Valley looks very good once again but the game holds little meaning for Trinity in reality. Not saying Trinity doesn't want to win or compete. Just saying, the Hillers need to focus on improving and worrying about those final five conference games.

Agreed, but most people don't see it that way.

From a coaches perspective, Mike is on the mark..they just want to get out of the game healthy - show improvement in areas they target - and get ready for the remainder of Big 8 slate - CV game means nothing in terms of making playoffs.
