Did someone ask before who he was?He is without question the finest all around three sport athlete in the area.

Anonymous said...

I can agree with that.

he's a top talent for h.s. but as for div 1 he is just to small to pitch at that level 5-9 175lbs. div 3 should be in his reach. good luck in the future kid.

Just read he's going to slippery Rock.good luck.

Glad to see the local newspaper covering local players.Great job! Pittsburgh Post Gazette posted this on August 4,2009 of the All state teams. Observer's reporter was just 5-6 days behind. I betcha if he/she was from the Washington area it would of been posted the day it was announced.

how does Monaca get two kids on the first team? I'd say Beaver County Times is doing some work!

Thought I might see a South Fayette pitcher on the list!

Next time I'm on vacation, I'll make sure to stop what I'm doing to report anything outside of the Washington area. Heck, anything inside the Washington area as well. Heck, maybe I'll never take another week of vacation so this doesn't happen again.

My apologies to all.

Did the Bethel Park coaching job get filled yet? I have heard Jaskowski from Char Valley is their guy, but I guess you cannot count out Bucci because he will probably stoop to the lowest levels if he has to.

Anonymous said...

I don't know who is getting that job, but if it's Bucci, he better keep his staff intact from Canon-McMillan (Barna, Jordan A, and Miller). He won at C-M because of the players and his assistants. Bucci was merely along for the ride.

Without the quality assistants, he will be doomed to underachieve like he was known for at previous stops.

Its Bucci at Bethel Park.

Anon,
Any word yet on his coaching staff?

Wow huge mistake by Bethel Park. Jim Rider was a great coach that consistently put out solid baseball teams over the years. I don't know if he resigned or was fired, but the replacement is a major downgrade.

Bucci should get Bethel Park to the playoffs (they have a lot of talent throughout their program) on a regular basis but I do not envision him having postseason success. He has taken more heavy favorites to the toilet than any coach in the Wpial over the last 15 years. Let's not let one year mask 14 years of underachievement. Just a poor hire by Bethel Park and I am really surprised that they went with him.

How about just a Washington County player?

Gee, you make it sound like Mike or the sports editor has never been to Greene County in their lives.

I know when I go on vacation for a week my company shuts down and cant produce anything until i get back...lol. Mike are you the only one there? Its a good thing the biggest sports story of all time didnt break in Wash Co while you were away...

Anonymous said...

I wonder if the Greene County Messenger printed this story?

Anonymous said...

no they didn't-seems like the papers tried to downplay him this year, but he's a good student,a good athlete, and you won't find a nicer kid

There was a 3 on 3 tournament this week at Fort Cherry any info?

Heard Jock and Rashard has a team

Anonymous said...

Any official word on the Bucci staff at Bethel Park yet? I would think he would keep Tony Fisher on as a carry-over from the Rider era. I also am inclined to think the Canon-Mac faithful are pretty upset that he lied to the community.

Jock and Rashad got beat at FC three on three tournament. They where on the same team too. I was told.

Bucci is on a direct course for mediocrity. He is NOT a better coach than Jim Rider, nor does he handle his team as well as Rider. Bucci is a cry-baby/brat and will quickly lose the respect of his players like he did at other stops.

Bethel Park will make the playoffs most years on talent alone. Even though Bucci will cost them 2-3 wins a year it should still be enough to get into the postseason. However the postseason is where Bucci has been known to flop (2008 an exception, not the rule) as he has been consistently out-coached on the big stage.

It's funny to see the comments being made about Bucci. Can any of you say that you have played for both Rider and Bucci? No? WEll I can and to say Bucci is a joke shows me that none of you have any clue what you are talking about. Rider was a good coach, but Bucci is a great coach. Either you people are parents of kids playing in the program right now or are friends with the other candidates. Either way, get used to it, Bucci is the coach, and he's going to win titles. Thats what he does. Canon Mac was a joke before he got there, and wins a state title. When did Bethel last win a state title? Quit the crying, deal with it, and respect the man. He knows what he is doing more than you do. Bucci has been waiting for this job for 10 years and now that he has it, big things are about to occur.

C-M going to beat B-P Twice This Year in Baseball! said...

Bucci wins titles? HAHAHA! He has one title and if you ask anyone that went to at least one game in the 2008 season, if any coach had something to do with the team's winning (let's not forget they had some pretty damn good players too) it was Miller (pitching coach), not Bucci.

Bucci has wasted more talent in his 15 (or more?) years of high school coaching than most programs have had in their entire history! Bucci is the most overrated coach in the Wpial and it's not even close.

Here's the reality anon, it has been rumored that Miller turned Bucci's offer to join his staff down. If true, Bucci could coach for 100 more years and he'll never win another title even if the roster is stacked with future major leaguers!

Do you even play baseball, or have any clue what goes on in baseball? let me guess, bucci screwed your son over one year? how can anyone say that a guy who has won 2 WPIAL championships and 1 State title is a horrible coach? Out of curiousity, how many championships have you won C-M to beat BP twice? I'm guessing you were a player who didn't play much at any level? Come on, be honest with me... Also, please give me a list of coachs who have more titles and a better winning percentage than Bucci? It's a handful, if that. If it's the assistant coaches that have won him the titles, isn't it the head coaches decision on who the assistants are? So point goes to Bucci there. You have no arguement, you have no facts, you have no clue dumby.

P.S. if you were a coach of any team of your choice, I guarantee you no title. It's a lot harder than you think.. trust me, i know from experience.

SOFTBALL SIDE-NOTE !!! Shayleigh Busti from Carmichaels made 1st team All-State Class A in softball. Did anyone from the Observer ever mention that except as a side note. If she had been from Waynesburg, they would have named a day after her. She was a pleasure for my daughter to play with and I only hope that my daughter gets some of the glory next year! Watch some of the games!!!

C-M 2-0 vs BP in 2010 said...

Anon @ 507pm,

Bucci has never won a Wpial title. I don't know when you think he won one let alone two, but he has never, ever won a Wpial title in baseball or any sport for that matter. He has one state title to his credit (2008 at Canon-McMillan).

You say there are no facts and no clue from this end, but yet you don't even know the history behind Bucci's career. In fact he has only coached one Wpial title game (and lost to my Wash High Prexies). I have 2 Wpial Golds and 1 Piaa gold in my closet for your information. Bucci has never screwed over any of my sons because I don't have a son. Nor has he ever coached me or my kids. But I am an informed observer and I know more than you do about Bucci (zero wpial titles when you say he has two).

List of CURRENT coaches with more titles and/or better winning percentage than Bucci:

1. Joe Maize Peters Twp
2. Dave Bates Carmichaels
3. Andy Maddox North Allegheny/Vincentian
4. Kurt Wolfe Pine-Richland
5. Eric Semega Seneca Valley
6. Dave Florie Butler
7. Brian Cornell West Allegheny
8. Brian Dzurenda Serra Catholic
9. Larry Wayman Franklin Regional
10.Pat McCloskey Mt. Lebanon
11.Carl Vollmer Plum
12.Dom Santeufemio Moon

And there are others. Is that enough for you? Or do you want to somehow fabricate more about Bucci's coaching record? Perhaps you want to claim he has 1,000 wins in baseball and 3 national championships?

Anonymous said...

Ok you are right there are many coaches better than Bucci, but do not put that fool from Lebo on the list. Bucci needs players to win and that is why he will struggle at BP. Rider could take a meteocre(sp) team and put them in the playoffs, Bucci can not.
