All-state football

Canon-McMillan junior Mike Hull became the third football player from Washington County to be named to an Associated Press Pennsylvania All-State team when he earned first-team Class AAAA honors on Saturday.

Hull, a Penn State recruit and the Observer-Reporter 2008 Player of the Year, is one of five linebackers on the first team.

In an interesting side, Hull is the first Big Macs player to make AP first-team all-state since 1983 when Sean Stopperich was named as an offensive lineman. Stopperich was an USA Today All-American that year and went to Southern Methodist (SMU), then an elite program. Stopperich received payments, among other things, to attend SMU and it was these violations which eventually led the NCAA to give SMU's football program the Death Penalty. SMU did not play football in 1987 and 1988.

Stopperich, who died in 1995, transferred to Temple after he agreed to cooperate with the NCAA during its investigation to recruiting violations at SMU.

A day before Hull's selection, Trinity junior Ken Wilkins was named Class AAA first team as a defensive lineman and offensive lineman Nate Lojek earned second-team honors.

Mike Kovac

How can you permit this type of ridiculous attack on a kid that has accomplished so much occur over an over again on this blog? The article was about a great athlete and person in Mike Hull, as usual moronic CM fans take thier turn to attack a former Peters athlete instead of focusing in on congratulating one of their own.

It is sickening that losers from CM take so much pride in anonymously attacking a kid. Maybe this is why CM consistently underachieves in every sport except wrestling.

CM, hometown of jealous losers.

It's Kovak.

And, from this point forward, all posts about last year's high school baseball season will be deleted.

We can talk baseball when spring arrives or we can talk about the upcoming season.

Enough is enough.

This sort of makes up for the over sight of not naming Hull to the FAB 22. Nice to see that good guys do finish first!

Consistently underachieves? Last year was arguably the best sports year in the history of the school I mean how many schools in AAAA can say that they had a state a wpial, not to mention a wrestling team that got screwed outta both, and a couple of section titles not too many. So before you bash CM please go back and look at o say LAST YEAR

amazing, CM got screwed out of a couple of titles, it must be the water in CM or something. Those poor kids always get screwed out of titles?

How about that loaded football team this year, how did they get screwed? How about those stellar boys and girls basketball teams this year? Most athletic team Bell has ever had? Thats just funny, most athletic ever just lost to a AA team by 40.

Holy Crap, people lets just celebrate what these kids have accomplished, and not what school they attend...Lets not think about coaches who think that one year is better then the other, when we all know and see that it isn't true, and minimize what one year has done that hasn't been done ever in school history...Or nastly comments that are so nasty that they get deleted from the blog...I am a CM fan, sometimes CM fans are nasty, but then again so are a lot of other fans from other schools, lets just say that people take sports very seriouly no matter what age, or what sport...And remember that if these kids didn't play sports, we wouldn't have anything to bitch about...
