Jankowski headed to Miami (Ohio)

Recent Peters Township graduate Jordan Jankowski will not sign with the Houston Astros and has decided to attend the University of Miami (Ohio) on a baseball scholarship.

I spoke with Jankowski Friday afternoon and he said the decision was a difficult one, but he wants to experience college and that a few years working on his defense as a catcher could benefit his draft status in three years.

"he wants to experience college"... I'm assuming that likely means booze, women, more booze, and more women instead of classes, academic clubs, community service clubs, and baseball. 21st century i guess, but still longing for the 20th

hopefully college treats him better than canon mac did in the state tourney

Great point anonymous. CM made JJ look like a little leaguer in that game. It was tough to see him implode on the mound and then argue with his coaching staff about how it was their fault that he gave up 8 runs.

I really pray that you CM cowardly posters are young, immature kids. Your envy is insane. This kid has the choice of either player professional baseball or enjoying a full ride to a great college and playing the sport he loves.

It must suck to live in CM and try to belittle an obviously better athlete than you will ever be.

yeah it must suck living in cm and having that state title taking up all that good space in the trophy case

I am neither a CM or Peters resident, however, how can you not be happy for the Big Mac's State Baseball Championship and JJ's decision. CM had a great run. I would not want to be in JJ's shoes and have to make the decision betw. college or the pro's. I am happy for JJ. He obviously made the best decision for himself. And "the college experience" doesn't always mean partying and women. The old saying goes, if you don't have something nice to say, keep your mouth shut. Or something like that.

CM has a trophy case? It must be very small, with the exception of wrestling, ONE OF THE GREATEST WRESTLING PROGRAMS IN THE STATE, what has CM ever won?

I have nothing against the CM team that won it all, it is great that a local team did it. I have a huge problem with the morons on here trying to talk down a great player like JJ. Hitting the most career HR's in WPIAL history and getting drafted right out of high school and getting a full ride to play ball, it seems to me that he is a pretty talented kid.

yea becoming the wpial home run leader isnt the hardest thing to do when u play on that little league field that pt calls their high school field

yea and frank leahy was the poster child for stupidity. nice quote moron.

If Frank Leahy was the poster child for stupidity, he most surely was from Canon Mac.

Are JJ and this guy (#11 for the Oakland Raiders) related? http://www.sfgate.com/blogs/images/sfgate/raiders/2005/09/25/jano.jpg

I'm thinking they are not mainly because the media coverage of JJ never mentioned it--- although they do kind of have the same body type and similar looking faces.

I'm sure JJ has hit plenty of home runs that would have been gone anywhere, but his home field is realyl quite small. I witnessed Chris Douglas hitting about 12 home runs on that field alone in legion ball this summer. (Three in one game alone and two in another) He also hit several that would've been gone anywhere but some were the result of that field. He was certainly a much improved hitter from the varsity season as he hit around .600, but playing at Peterswood helped too, at least as far as home runs go.

haha I don't think JJ is related to sebastian, but they sure do look like brothers

Maybe JJ can be the placekicker for the Miami(OH) team this year! Wouldn't that make for a great story? Perhaps he could even one day kick in the NFL! The irony could be that JJ makes the NFL while highly touted guys like Hull are left behind. But I do wish all of the young men luck.

Rumor has it that JJ has a chode and is damn proud

Hopefully Jancowski underwent a serious attitude adjustment between the embarrassing end of his high school career and the start of his college career or he won't be on the team very long.

CM won the WPIAL boys track championship this year 2008.
