A few things to ponder as I clear out the notebook:
1. Trinity must sure up its pass defense. If the Hillers don't , they won't make much noise in the postseason.
2. Mike Yancich looks like he could be a Division I running back.
3. Burgettstown's Dan Conley is the best player nobody knows. Granted, he's played on bad teams, but this senior running back/linebacker was first-team all-conference a year ago and he led the Blue Devils to a win against South Park Friday night. Not sure where he'll end up, but Conley sounds like he's at least a solid Division II prospect.
4. As strange as it sounds, California may be better off with Donte Valentino carrying the offensive work load than it was last year, when he shared duties with other talented players.
5. Either Kiski Area is very good (which I believe they might be), or Canon-McMillan put too much into beating Trinity two weeks ago.

Yes, Conley is very good. He is everywhere on the defensive side of the ball. He surely had double digit tackles this past Friday night along with 160+ rushing yards.
Donte Valentino is the most elusive exciting player to watch in the wpial besides terrel pryror. He scored 7 touchdowns in one game and no one has anything to say about that? Someone give the little quarterback some credit, he has 9 touchdowns in two games.
I've written a lot about Valentino, on this blog and in the paper (including Monday's edition of the Observer-Reporter). Scroll down a little and check some previous posts. At least two on here are entirely about Valentino, my favorite offensive player to watch in high school football.
IMO, he is the top playmaker in Class A and one of the WPIAL's most reconizable small-school players. He's earned that distinction with his fantastic play.
When i said give him some credit i wasn't referring to O-R or you. I mean in the Mon Valley, they should recognize him more. I just thought he would have gotten alot more hype after two huge performances in the first two weeks. But we will see has the season progresses.
Donte should crush the 4,000 yard mark. He has over 3,500 now and is pretty much guaranteed 2 more 200 yard performances. I think Donte is going to turn ALOT of heads after this years performance. Its definitely one for the record books.
After reading the Valley Paper today(9/11) he was name player of the week.
