The Fort Cherry community no doubt was saddened to hear about the loss of Don Harbison, a standout two-sport athlete who died Saturday morning when the SUV he was driving hit a house in Robinson Township.
Harbison, 25, lived in Midway.
A 2001 graduate of Fort Cherry, Harbison was a dominant two-way lineman on very good football teams at Fort Cherry. As a senior, Harbison was named to the Associated Press Small School All-State football team as a first-team selection. He also earned mention to the Observer-Reporter All-District basketball team.
Harbison went on to Slippery Rock, where he played football.

Don was a four year starter at the Rock. He was a tremendous athlete and a better friend.
Harbo was a great player but a better kid, always a kind word for who ever needed one.He will be missed by the Ranger family!
And to the Ranger family,I heard but cant confirm that the family needs help on this one.Donnie had no life insurance and theyre collecting money, please do what you can.
There will be a spaghetti dinner on Saturday night at the Midway SNPJ followed by a benefit show by Hollow Aesthetics at Harringtons on Robinson Highway Saturday nite to benefit the Harbison family. All ages welcome.

I had the good fortune to coach Harbo for three years. He worked
hard on the court, on the field, and in the classroom. He had a
heart as massive as his huge frame.
To know him, was to love him. His
personality would fill the room.
A great loss for everyone who knew
him. I will miss him greatly.
