Who cares....... No one in AAA is going to make run in the states. WPIAL basketball is a joke all the way from A-AAAA.

Before i get on my soap box i just want to say that Clairton was beaten by the better team tonight. Sewickley Academy has some big, strong, well coached kids and should take down Serra to win the A title.

That said, someone needs to explain to me how catholic and private school teams can possibly be allowed to participate in Class A...whether it be football, baseball, basketball, etc. How can the WPIAL continue to let these schools play in the same class as districts that only have 100 boys to pull from? Take tonight for example. Peter Schramm for Sewickley Academy is from the Knock school district in Butler County. Yet, because his AAU coach is on the staff at Sewickley he plays for them. They have a stacked team...basically because they get to pull from any and all areas that they want to. While there may only be 100 boys in their school, they got to pick those 100 from a field of how many thousands. Is that fair? Not only is it not fair in single A, it shouldnt be fair in any classification. Look at Central Catholic in football...every year they make a run at the title...is it just a coincidence that all of these great athletes just decide they want to get a proper education at a private school? Of course not. Why wont the WPIAL recognize this problem and do something about it?

...and someone better find CV Alum and put him on suicide watch.

Anonymous said...

Ill tell you what the real joke is; the way Serra Catholic kids act.

There was a fight between Rob Heatherington and Tony Kirkwood and rob threw two punches and Tony put him in a grapple just to stop him from throwing blows. They both get ejected; and thats fair.

Whats ridiculous is the way Serra kids act. What a bunch of snot nosed brats they have, they wine about every call and when a team finally plays with them they lose their call and get people ejected.

Serra people need to realize their kids are a bunch of winey arrogant jerks, and the papers need to print this stuff, not glorifying these kids

You call losing by 14 playing with a team? That is closer to a blowout than playing with a team. Very mature post too...making a bunch of idiotic comments about kids that you don't know. Nice work.

Anonymous said...

It was a 7 point game to start the 4th. I really believe that is playing with a team there big guy.

If you were at the game, which I was, you would have seen that Neshannock played with Serra, not a blowout. And also if you were at the game you would have seen the way these kids acted, and I was also at the OLSH and Serra game and saw the exact same thing.

Private school are on a high horse and feel they are above everyone. I have facts to back up my statements, I wouldn't get on here and say things about kids unless I knew.

And in case you want attack me and what I know I played college basketball for 4 years and overseas for 5. Don't call my comments idiotic when you don't know what I see.

Why is WPIAL Basketball A-AAAA a joke? Explain....

No one cares where you played son.

Must be a Serra Fan

the person defending serra is either a player/parent or hasnt watched them to awful much. Clairton plays them in football, basketball and baseball. They might be some of the dirtiest teams (basketball/football) in the WPIAL. Now, Clairton doesnt have a bunch of angels on their team, far from it, but you should see some of the stuff their basketball and football teams do to our kids. And you cant defend Serra on this, I have seen just about every Clairton/Serra game thats been played in the recent past. They are dirty players, period. You should have seen the number of personal fouls they comitted in our previous football match up this past season...unbelievable...and not all of them called. My friend you had it right in calling these kids and this program out...

Anonymous said...

Thanks a lot for the backup buddy. Much needed

I am not coming on here to bash kids, but after what i saw last night I couldn't be quiet.

I had my two sons with me and an example of sportsmanship was not on display for them on the Serra side. They acted like they were "too good" for Neshannock.

The kid from Neshannock that was ejected got a raw deal, Heatherington was mad and threw fists, Kirkwood tried to get out of there. Serra deserved to miss a player, but not Neshannock, he was just protecting himself. The fans for Neshannock that got tossed, thats a different story and I know that was very unsportsmanlike. I am talking about players.

We sat behind the Neshannock bench and they handled themselves with class and dignity. Wish I could say the same for the private school on the other side.

I agree with your assessment of the Serra fans. Monessen boys and girls have both been in the same section as Serra in the past and the Serra fans and students were the rudest and most obnoxious of any school we played. The language that came out of their mouths was anything but christian and it was hard to believe that this was a team fielded by a Catholic school. It's unbelievable that at Serra home games, they pray before the game and then act that way!

Anonymous said...

Thats because most Catholics arent Christians.

Anonymous said...

And the hits just keep on coming.

So my assesment was right, this wasn't just a one time thing, this was a display of how Serra Catholic is.

Shame that had to happen in such a game, would have loved to seen the game with Kirkwood in and Heatherington rightfully out after the cheap shots.

Anonymous said...

yeah, that said, the kids that are playing sports at Serra arent there because they are catholic and want to go to a catholic school...they are there because they have been RECRUITED to be there to win basketball/football games, end of story.

...And it was quite enjoyable watching Clairton beat the sh*t out of serra this year on the football field 37-3.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, its much better to root for crack dealers than Catholics.

You all need to get off of your high horses. The truth is the kids that go to Serra go there to avoid going to school with a bunch of thugs and drug dealers. Just because you are part of those districts doesn't give you the right to make up lies about recruiting.

Anonymous said...

That very well might be the most ignorant, uninformed statement i have heard in a long time. You obviously dont live in the Mon Valley...and if you do you dont have a clue...so let me help you out.

How many of Clairton's kids were ineligible this past football/basketball season? 0. How many have been arrested, are failing, kicked out of school? 0. How many of them have been ejected from a game for throwing a punch (TJ Heathrington)? 0. Do we have problems in some of our districts? Absolutley. But no more than any district in any area in any part of Pennsylvania and if you say otherwise you are either a liar or living under a rock. I dont believe it was Clairton that had girls raped in school (Upper St. Clair). I dont believe it was Clairton that had massive drug sweeps, drug problems and arrests within the past few years (Bethel Park, Belle Vernon). The list goes on. We are not perfect...but neither are you or whatever area you are from.

And, again, those kids arent going to Serra because they fear for their lives and they dont want to go to school with some of the big bad drug dealers in the mon valley, they go to serra to play sports because they were RECRUITED.

I thoroughly dislike uninformed, unintelligent people who stereotype areas because we have a large african american population (im white by the way) and they here a few things on the news. Grow up. And intstead of deflecting the criticizm of your vaunted Serra Catholic High School by bad mouthing other areas why dont you open your eyes and see your program for what it is? A bunch of cheating, dirty players and coaches that throw punches and intentionally try to hurt opposing players when they are in a close game or are losing. Real Catholic values there...

Anonymous said...

haha wow anon above me must be on crack to make a comment like that. Every private school recruits. Are you kidding me???

Anyways, hats off to Highlands they beat CV at their own game. CV had a great year winning 24 in a row. Hopefully we can make a run in the state tourney. I think towards the end of the season CV wasnt performing like it had during the middle.

Maybe this loss will be a good thing and get them back on track. Trust me I wasnt the only one who thought that CV was the best team in the WPIAL in any class. I still think they are and they will have another chance to redeem themselves.

Anonymous said...

i couldnt tell by your comment, seriously. Are you saying you dont think private schools recruit or are you reaffirming that they obviously do? Im not saying every private school does...but its tough to argue with the likes of Central, Sewickley, Serra, OLSH and girls programs liks Quigley, Mt. Alvernia, OLSH and so on...

Anonymous said...

Played against Clairton a few times while I was there, I believe Corey Gadson was the coach. Nothing but a bunch of class players, fans and coaches.

And you want to talk about drug dealers and that? Do you think that Neshannock had thugs and crack dealers? And don't start about getting on a high horse, you and your arrogant and rude fans showed your true colors last night, and I hope you guys are proud of the way you got Neshannock's best player kicked out of game, you want to talk about thugs.

It should read this on the WPIAL bracket Seweckley* vs. Serra* because private schools deserve the asterisk just like the steroids people in baseball. It may not be illegal but it gives you an unfair advantage.

Grow up, learn the facts and realize Serra is as gulity as anyone when it comes to arrogance. Tuesday night was a prime example of that.

Anonymous said...

Just keep on crying Clairton fans, whine like the babies that you are.

Serra is in the finals and there is nothing you can do about it.

Anonymous said...

I think Goga has actually made a good point. Who has done more for their team than Nick wilcox?

He showed the greatest will to win last night. When a big shot or a big play was needed he took it and made it.

It was only a matter of time before Peters got themselves in a WPIAL final for basketball.

One more point, I was at the game last night and I am completely embarrased of the adminstration at Peters. Why was the principal yelling at the student section the whole game? The Seneca Valley student section was yelling the whole game like normal highschool kids should be allowed to do. Get over yourself and let kids be kids. The Peters student section didnt make any noise and didnt factor into the game because of this adminstration who has tried to put their hand on this basketball program for so long. The parents and older indiviuals made more noise because the kids were getting yelled at the whole game.

Come on this is highschool sports!

Not a Clairton fan in the least.

If anything I am a South Fayette fan who was at the Serra and Neshannock game and the point is that Serra kids, fans and coaches acted like arrogant spoiled brats.

This has nothing to do with who you root for, just has to do with sportsmanship. But the posts that the people defending Serra doesnt suprise me in the least.

Arrogance must be in the Serra players, fans coaches and people who defend them on blog comments. Can't say I am real shocked by that.

Anonymous said...

Go ahead, keep showing your class and Catholic values anon serra fan.

Sewickley is going to eat your lunch in the title game. Let's see TJ go after 6'7" Peter Schramm underneath. Schramm is going to own Heathrington...the same way Clairton owned Heathrington and the rest of your football team this past season 37-3.

That's ok though...Clairton is still in the state playoff run...we'll see what happens.

Good season this year Serra...not bad for a RECRUITED team...section co-champs with Clairton.

go to a riggold game kids arn`t allowed to stand let alone scream. its a joke kids cant have fun old sec. gaurds with no life picking on kids trying to have fun thats why kids don`t go to the games at peters or ringgold go to CV,MT.LEBO,ST.CLAIR those kids scream all nite and as for arrogant serra kids that starts at home those are the same kids who couldn`t make there high school team so they went to the smaller school

Anonymous said...

Whomever made the comment about Clairton being thugs and drug dealers needs to get a grip. There are drug dealers everywhere not just Clairton. When making a point that the people from Clairton are drug dealers and thugs, you are also saying that about the kids.

Anonymous said...

Notice how the Serra fan has been quiet all day.

He must have realized that we were all correct about that prissy school.

Anonymous said...

I just think Serra fans are probably smart enough to realize when they are dealing with irrational people. You ever try rationalizing with crazy people? Can't be done. Anytime you have success as long as they have, people will start bashing. So bash away...I just wouldn't waste too much of your day on this meaningless message board. You have to have something more meaningful going on in your life...or maybe not.

Anonymous said...

hahaha whats up SF

Anonymous said...

No I have nothing better to do.

Ill admit it

Anonymous said...

So let me ask you Serra super fan, what is rational about throwing an unprovoked punch during a basketball game? What is rational about comitting, i dont know, 8-12 personal foul penalties (both called and not called) in a football game? Whats rational about your fans acting the way they do? Whats rational (or legal) about recruiting kids to come and play for a high school basketball/football team? Please tell me, I'd love to know.

...and I'm just about sick of your "holier than thou" smug attitude...but I've come to expect that from you people...

Anonymous said...

Thanks Clairton Alum

Unprovoked is key word. Because that is exactly what it was, he was a punk showing his punk ways. Sad that you get to play in the WPIAL championship with people like that, people who have no idea what interscholastic athletics is all about.

Anonymous said...

Neshannock, the only thing to hope for is that your team gets another crack at them in the state playoffs...maybe a chance for some redemption (and for the serra super fan here i mean redemption in the form of a victory for Neshannock, not in the form of fouls and fighting like you guys enjoy doing).

Anonymous said...

Man, i bet all of those Serra players, coaches and fans were upset last night huh? 71-57. Geez, we played Sewickley closer than that. What happened Serra fans? Too much of #44? Ha Ha Ha...no title this year...what a shame.

Good for you, thats what you arrogant cheaters get.

Anonymous said...

...and Droney dropped 40 on you guys? They only scored 55 on us as a team. Good defensive game there guys...

Anonymous said...

I hope that Rob feels good about himself. It might have been a different game if he wasn't such a poor sport and cheap shot player the other night. Sewickley would have beat them either way, but the poor 2 guard had to watch from the bench. Awwwwwwwww

Anonymous said...

34 shots in a game you better score at least 30.Now you`ll hear robby did n`t play S.A.ripped them up they may win 1 more then get out the gloves

Anonymous said...

Neshannock, win your first round state playoff game and you'll get your shot at Serra again in the second round...

Anonymous said...

Thats what we are hoping for, we just need to get through that first round game without our point guard/leading scorer.

I was at the game last night and man is TJ a little baby!

He cried about every call, made a face about every call even showed his teammates up when they didn't do something he liked. It was actually embarassing.

I hope people are starting to realize what jerks these Serra people are and stop writing articles about how bad it is Robbie couldn't play and he looked really upset. Forget that it was his fault anyway, don't be a jerk and throw punches and you play that simple.

I know our Neshannock players want another shot at them. Win or lose though, I know who will have more dignity

Anonymous said...

they both are...rob and tj both. I dont care how sad rob looked. We play Serra every year...there is nothing better than knocking those cocky smirks off of their players, coaches and fans faces.

The best part is two years ago they cried to the WPIAL to realign them in a different conference in football...mainly to try and avoid playing Clairton (regardless of what they say). After 1 season, Clairton ended up being realigned into their conference. God I loved that...you should have seen the crying that went on after that move.

Anonymous said...

Even Mike White of the post-gazette in his blog noted how TJ berated his teammates during the game.

So it isn't just us crying sour grapes, its anyone who sees these kids play. Rob served his suspension and deserved it and Kirkwood will take his Friday, even though I don't believe he deserved it, but I know that Neshannock won't act like babies about it like Serra did claiming it was all Kirkwood's fault.

I would hate to play with TJ Heatherington.
