Fort Cherry ,Char- Houston, and Serra all can beat Beth Center and Monaca just because there in the toughest section and have four of the toughest teams in WPIAL to play doesnt meen they should drop this far... If Beth Center and Monaca played Clairton, Clairton would have there starters out in the 2nd quarter. If Char Houston gets in the tri-county south Char Houston is section champs and if Fort Cherry loses Clairton and brought in any team that should be there, Carlynton or Beth Center Fort Cherry is a section Champ...Lets be honest here its really Clairton, Rochester, Fort Cherry and Char-Houston Avonworth... Those 5 teams WILL be in the final mix to go to heinz

I think i'd go along with that to a point...lets be realistic the tri-county south is not good. Beth Center, while they may be good, their record does not impress me because of the conference they are in. The bulldogs are the only legitimate team in that conference and wont have a real test until playoff time. The Eastern Conference is having a little bit of a down year as well...Avonworth and N. Catholic aren't bad. Watch out for springdale though...i know they have 3 losses but they were in each of those games and they are a second half team. Last year Clairton knocked them off in the regular season 26-0, didnt allow them to cross the 50 and in the playoffs they were a different team. Also, the big 7 conference is always tough...Rochester, Western Beaver, Monaca...

We'll see...the best teams dont always get to Heinz...i dont believe the two best got their last year...

Mike I think McKeesport should be ranked above Bethel Park. McKeesport has won all of their games by a pretty high margain except the win by 6 against erie mcdowell. And their lose was to Colerain, who is nationally ranked pretty high, was only by a touchdown.

Love'em or Hate'em the Clairton Bears, by virtue of their 42-0 win over CH, Continue to be the top scoring team in the WPIAL with 281 points(top 5 or 10 in the state i believe) and are also the top defensive team in the WPIAL and PIAA in points allowed with 13. That is a DOMINANT team on both sides of the ball...

we get it they are the best team in single A

clairton alum...I would never in 1 million years guess that you were trying to imply that Clairton is the best A team around.

Mr. Bear,

The thing with "A" football is, you have some schools with a lot of and a ton of talent and then you have schools that have like 13 players(no disrespect Avella.) What i'm trying to hint at is that while stats in "A" football may seem incredible when stacked up against stats from AAAA and AAA, they really are about as useful a poopy flavored lollipop. I'm not disputing that Clairton is dominant and probably the best team in "A", i'm just saying that you throwing around numbers about a single A team is kinda pointless.

Mike and others,
just read a neat article....

ok, i get the hint...I'm sure after beating the best teams in your subscription area (o-r) you guys are tired of hearing about it. Ill let it go for now.

Just keep in mind Clairton is the 8th smallest school in the WPIAL...its not like the bears are playing a bunch of Avella's (no offense)...almost every single school we go up against is bigger than us with more kids to pull from.

But I'll cool it for awhile...

Thanks for the article Brian.

That's insane. And a good read.

i think with the loss of santino coury, chartiers valley isnt worth a #3 ranking in AAA

Anonymous said...

plus, char valley bein #3 without santino coury, shouldnt that make ringgold #4, considering they lost on a missed extra point in double OT ?

Rod Taylor said...

I agree with anon. RHS should be ranked! However, we have to be rational, they lost. My prediction: RHS wins out and wins their first round playoff game. Char-Valley will get smoked by TJ and upset by Albert Gallatin. (Just kidding about the AG part. However, EF might suprise CV with their running game.)

"plus, char valley bein #3 without santino coury, shouldnt that make ringgold #4, considering they lost on a missed extra point in double OT ?"

Doesn't make any sense. Ringgold, which I believe is a good team, lost to Char Valley when CV played without its top two players.

well, char valley lost their starting qb and the next one got pulled so only they played without one top player, and now that santino coury is most likely out, i just dont think they are the #3 team in AAA

I can understand the last point anon. What I don't get is the person saying Ringgold should be No. 4 by virtue of the loss.

maybe they were just tryin to make a point of how that game could of gone either way

To anonymous ... As for Fort Cherry beating Beth-Center, I'm not so sure. Actually, I'm inclined to think California would give Fort Cherry all they can handle. And trust me on this: I saw the Fort Cherry-Carmichaels game. Fort Cherry REALLY didn't look that great against the Mikes, and if they would play again, with Joby Lapkowicz playing, I think Carmichaels gives them a much tighter game, if not beats them.
