Musial elected to WPIAL HOF
Donora native Stan Musial, easily one of the best baseball players to come from Western Pennsylvania, has been selected to the WPIAL Hall of Fame.
Part of the third class, along with Washington High School's Brian Davis, Musial played baseball, football and basketball at Donora High School, now part of the Ringgold School District.
Musial, 88, played 22 seasons, all with the St. Louis Cardinals. A three-time National League MVP, Musial finished his Hall of Fame career with a .331 batting average, 3,630 hits and 475 home runs. He was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1969, on his first ballot, and named the baseball's all-century team in 1999.

According to my dad, his Aunt Eunice taught Stan Musial when he was a boy in Donora.
I have no way of confirming that, so I'll just have to believe it's true!
What is wrong with the WPIAL that he was not elected in the 1st HOF class. He is one of the greatest baseball players that ever walked the face of the earth and it took them 3 HOF classes to induct him....ridiculous.
What a slap in the face to Musial to be a third year inductee. For Obama's sake who beat him in?
I agree wholeheartedly with the above posts.
The WPIAL likes to honor its Hall of Fame Classes with those being inducted able to attend. In prior years, Mr. Musial was not able to attend.
Don't you think there's a reason Dan Marino and Tony Dorsett haven't been put in the WPIAL HOF just yet?
Perhaps a gathering of facts would be prudent prior to just ripping something or someone.
Suffice it to say-----That's a stupid rule!!!!
It is extremely stupid......if that is the "facts". My opinion has not changed it just makes the WPIAL even more moronic that I originally thought.
I don't care what the WPIAL thinks about those being able to attend. It cheapens the honor. I say the WPIAL hall of fame is a joke.
Does that mean Musial plans to attend the induction ceremony?
