WPIAl softball sites update

With its 4-0 victory over Kittanning Monday in the first round of the WPIAL Class AAA softball playoffs, Trinity knew its quarterfinal opponent would be second-seeded Yough.
Now, the Hillers (10-7) know they’ll face the Cougars (13-2) Wednesday at California University beginning at 2 p.m.
Chartiers-Houston, the No. 8 seed in the Class A bracket, faces top-seed Vincentian Academy at North Allegheny, also at 2 p.m. The Bucs (14-7) faced the Royals (17-2) in last year’s quarterfinals, losing 5-4. Vincentian went on to win the state title.
Also in Class A, Carmichaels plays Mt. Alvernia at 2 p.m. at Fairhaven Park near McKees Rocks. The Mikes (14-2) defeated North Catholic in the first round, while Mt. Alvernia (8-4) upset fourth-seeded Fort Cherry.

I'd like to see softball enact pitching rules similar to those that apply to high school baseball. I would be much more interested in these playoffs if I knew that one dominant pitcher did not make a "team." I wonder how much the landscape would be altered if a team was forced to have 2 or even 3 quality pitchers to advance?

Amen! I've been saying that for years. It is ridiculous that in a TEAM sport one dominant pitcher can do just that - dominate - every game, every day, twice a day if necessary!!

Can anyone tell my why Pete Logan is still the Ringgold Boys Basketball Coach??? The man had a few lucky teams with players like George Lemon. That Brownsville team would have won without a coach.

Logan is terrible. Kids are quitting the team. No one shows up for practice. He still plays kids who never show up to practice. This guy is not building a program. He is just contributing to the downfall of the program.

Enacting pitching rules for softball is ridiculous. You can't compare it to baseball. Most girls that pitch fastpitch softball do so year round, they have to in order to compete. As soon as high school season is over their travel season starts and pretty much runs into August. Once that is over then they begin their fall season. Not many kids are willing to put that kind of committment into a sport. I have attended alot of high school games this year from A to AAA and really haven't seen a pitcher that completely dominates. The strikeout leader from Chartiers Houston isn't in the playoffs anymore and one of the slowest pitchers in single A (Carmichaels) is still in the playoffs so your argument doesn't make any sense.
