any word on who Trinity will hire as a football coach?

Board member relative from Texas???? Jason Kekseo from Avonworth was mentioned. Great job turning that program around. Same mold as Dalton. Don't know much else about the guy.

Let's be honest....this was decided 8 months ago. The interviews were just part of the show. Word is that they want to hire Mike Wall, a former Trinity football player who is also a very distant relative of a BM. Interestingly, a position was posted for a transition coordinator just yesterday....the same day they wanted to hire the FB coach. Who do they think they're kidding?!

Mike Wall has NO head coaching experience???? How can he come in and run a football program??? Being an alumni or relative is not enough qualification. Trinity needs someone with experience and knows how to run a program, handle boosters, recruiting and all that goes along with being a head coach. Can anyone say NEPOTISM!!!! This will come back to bite them in the behind. Mistake after mistake by this school board.

Trinity needs a breath of fresh air, something new. I don't care if it is a Quad A assistant or Head Coach from the outside. The foundation was built by Coach Dalton. They could come in and provide the spark needed to take the next step.

Truthfully, Mike Wall may just turn the program around and drive it right into the ground just like our school board is doing to our district!!!

I feel bad for the Athletic Director Bobby Jones. Does he have any say who gets hired in his athletic department? This could be his first big hire, let him make the choice, not politics. Or is the school board going to undermine everything he does too?

Jason Kekseo is also a finalist for the head job at Peters Township, where Tom Donahue from NFL management sat in on the interviews, not the school board. According to Avonworth Antelopes Facebook page:
Avonworth Football Quick FACTS
• Overall record – 39-23; 29-6 past three years
• 4 playoff appearances in 6 years
• 2 trips to WPIAL Semi-Finals (2008 & 2010)in past 3 years
• 1 trip to WPIAL Quarter-Finals (2009) in past 3 years
• North All-Star Coach 2005, 2008, 2010
• 2 Coach of the Year Awards; 2008 & 2010

Speaking of Peters Township, Nick Milchovich is also a candidate for the Trinity job. Probably the most qualified since he has head coaching experience at the Quad A level. Wonder is that matters?

Mike Wall is getting the job. Is it a coincidence that the board kept Kasunich 5-4 and fired Dalton 5-4? Should of never opened the position and just kept Coach Dalton.

No way Trinity hires someone who is only 32 with no head experience. Maybe as an assistant.

Regarding Mr. Jones.....he was also a board mistake. He is not able to offer any expertise whatsoever. He seems to be a nice man but he is a fish out of water. So, that leaves Trinity with an AD that lacks qualifications and knowledge and a school board that spends money chasing tennis balls. They have absolutely no athletic knowledge which confirms why they think Mike Wall would be best for the job! A-G-E-N-D-A-S !!!!!!

Like the AD at Trinity is even allowed to do anything. What kind of expertise does that require. I think the board is getting exactly what THEY want.

If Wall has no athletic knowledge, they are hiring him so the board can also run the football team.

Mike will be a puppet for Trinity. That is what happens to inexperienced coaches. But that is the way they want it. The school board will be the coach, good luck with those school board members that have kids on the team. All Starters or he will be gone in a week. Does he know what he is getting into? Probably not or he would stay in Texas.

Let's do the math. Twelve years ago, Dalton came here at 70K/yr. Given the inflation rate & the salary given to the new AD, the new coach should come in somewhere around 80K. If he has success with the team, it might be worth it.

Since when does being an alumni player automatically mean that mike wall is qualified to be a head coach?! He has NO EXPERIENCE! I have never heard of something so ridiculous. He will drive that program into the ground. This is TRINITY...not some chump football program. We deserve a much better head coach than that!!

This is TRINITY......What has Trinity ever done on the football field. At best, they are a lower tier AAA team that has made the playoffs a few times but never did anything. Trinity is known for wrestling...period and even that has been in the crapper for a few years.

Given the mentality and attitude of some of the sports fanatics at THS, any coach would have to think twice about coming here. Think back to any controversy at THS & it centers on athletics. The one pre-Dalton was on the construction of the stadium. Education always takes a back seat to sports in the district. TASD stands for Trinity Area Sports District

For the record, Guy Montecalvo wasn't yet 32 years old when he was hired, without previous head coaching experience.

That seemed to work out okay, didn't it?

Ed Dalton, significantly passed 32 years of age when he got the Trinity job, took a dozen years to get to .500 there.

That didn't work out so well, or so quickly, did it?

Mike Wall turned down the job twice. Trinity;s next coach had a 7-23 record at north catholic over his last 3 seasons that he was a head coach. Sounds like a great choice by our board.

Re:This is Trinity. FYI.....Trinity, TJ, Mars and Franklin Regional are the only teams in AAA this year that have been to the play-offs 6 years in a row. So I guess that answers your question "what has Trinity ever done on the football field?" Considering that there are 31 teams in AAA, that makes Trinity one of the Fabulous 4!

6 years in a row as a fourth place team! I'd say more like fabulous 16!

Why was kekseo let go anyway?
