First-round playoff picks

For the second straight week, Kovak's fearless prognostications went 4-2 to make the regular season record a slightly above average 40-14 or a .741 win-percentage. In a bold move, prognostications ventured outside the high school sports world and into the political realm where a win was predicted for Tom Corbett as the Governor-elect of Pennsylvania.

It was a tough call for prognostications, who thinks Democratic candidate Dan Onorato bears a resemblance to Beth-Center head coach Ed Woods.

This week, rather than pick a small handful of games, we're picking all the first-round playoff contests (home team in CAPS).

That's one helluva dog. If you can get video, I'll post it here.

I just don't see many upsets happening, though I did pick a few lower seeds in Class AA.

Congrats to all of the Blackhills teams tonight. Brentwood gave Avonworth all that they could handle tonight. Fort Cherry has nothing to be ashamed of as well. Great game there Mo Town. Giving up 1 total yard heading into halftime... Amazing. How bout this food for thought, the Tri County has more teams left than the Big 7 heading into the 2nd round. The Eastern proved its strength tonight by advancing all 4 teams even though they struggled along the way. The Eastern is definitely the best conference this season but not as strong as I thought it was.

My picks for next week... Clairton over Canevin... Monessen over Springdale... Rochy over Beth Center... Avonworth over N. Catholic
