Hey Mike,
Whats the best feat you've ever witnessed in high school baseball over all the year's with the O-R? and basketball and football??

Wow ... I'm going to think about that one tonight and get back to you tomorrow afternoon.

After some thought ...

Baseball – Zach Jeney's game-winning home run over the centerfield fence at Consol Energy Stadium to give California the WPIAL Class A championship.

Softball – About 14 years ago, I covered a game between Riverside and New Brighton that went 21 innings and the two pitcher combined to allow one run, strike out 60 or so batters and very few hits.

Watching Jaci Timko continually launch home runs was also impressive.

Basketball – As a team, South Fayette beating Strawberry Mansion for the PIAA Class AA title.

As for an individual, I caught the entire second half of a PIAA Class AAA girls game this year between Saint Marys and Hampton. Saint Marys won the game and Kayla Ho'ohuli scored 52 points. I didn't see another player score for Saint Marys and she hit shots from as far out as 30 feet.

Football – One thing that has always stood out was the postseason performance of Fort Cherry's Perry Ivery back in 2001. He played receiver, running back and quarterback when needed and came up with some clutch interceptions. I never saw one player make so many big plays in the football playoffs.

I also covered a game where Robert Heller rushed for 300-plus yards.

Ben Jennings had the best run I've seen, in the playoffs against Mt. Lebanon.

Just remembered, Andrew Sweat as a junior in a game at West Mifflin. I think he had 20 tackles by halftime, and about eight behind the line of scrimmage.

Easily the best defensive game I've seen.
