Congratulations to Ashley Morran. I have had the opportunity to watch her play several times during summer travel ball and my daughter has had the opportunity to pitch against her. I can't think of another player more deserving of the top honor. I really won't go into the others on the first and second team, but I will say it's a shame the people picking the team didn't have a picture of Ashley actually playing softball.
I guess not having a picture tells you exactly how many people from the paper actually covered a softball game. I think if the reporters want to get their eyes opened they should attend one of the travel ball tournaments and watch some of these teams play.
Travel ball tournaments. Yawn!
At many newspapers, reporters are not responsible for taking photographs.
And, yes, I wish we had a better choice of Morran photos. Alas, this was the hand that was dealt.
YAWN! Real mature.... Obviously watching a girl play or pitch 6 or 7 games in a span of two or three days is boring to you. You really should get out more often, this is where you will find real athletes, maybe you should skip over to the blog where all the bored people are fighting over the male athlete of the year. Ten years from now do you really think anyone is going to care who the baseball player of the year was?
Did the OR even leave Washington County this year to cover a softball game. We know budgets are slim but this this team was picked from your backyard. How where these players chosen? Did not the girls team from Carmichaels go deep in the playoffs? You ought to just leave your picks to Washington County.
No one ever cares about Carmichaels...the little class A school. They had quite a few good or better athletes on the softball team but they were overlooked probably because of the competition. If it was that easy, everyone would have had good stats. Anyway, some of your choices were questionable AND WHY EVEN TALK ABOUT TRAVELING LEAGUE? I thought that this was a varsity (high school) blog plus who knows the competition in the traveling league. RESPECT THE MIKES!!!
