Price named Ringgold football coach

Already one of the hardest-working athletic directors in the WPIAL, Ringgold's Lloyd Price is taking on some extra responsibilities. At Wednesday evening's school board meeting, Price was approved by a unanimous vote to become the Rams' next head football coach. Price, a Ringgold graduate, becomes the seventh coach in 11 years at his alma mater.

He replaces Jeff Petrucci, who resigned after two seasons and two playoff appearances with a 9-11 record. Overall, Ringgold has reached the postseason three straight years.

“My goal is to get these student-athletes to excel academically. I want them to improve as young men,” Price said. “I want them to get to a high level and achieve success.”

What a completely horrible decision by the Ringgold School Board! The garbage continues at a dump of a district.

I wonder why Frank Zebrasky didn't get this job. Maybe it was because of his baseball responsibilities at Canon-Mac, but based on rumors it looked for a while as if he may be the guy for the Rams.

I believe Ringgold made a great hire. Lloyd Price has the energy and passion it takes to turn Ringgold into a contending team. Plus, Ringgold is home. If he succeeds, I don't see him bolting.

Price has earned a lot of respect throughout the area in the short time he has been AD at Ringgold.

he`s going to need good help and support from ALL the parents because the lack of parents helping is sad.Everyones kids at ringgold should be starters never 2nd team.Wake up parents its not midgets anymore tell your kids they need to get to the gym and work a little harder instead of telling them negative things about other players.you parents know who you are keep your kids at home instead of ruining it for coach price good luck to lloyd and his staff there is light at the end of the tunnel

Lloyd will work hard. He has to establish authority early and often if he wants to continue to be football coach or the kids will walk all over him.

I think he is just what Ringgold needs. He brings a new school approach to the game. I am sure that he will be a better play caller than Petrucci and give every deserving player a chance. I dont think he will play favorites and he will focus on a group as a whole and not a bunch of individuals.

Llyod Price does terrible as coach of the ringgold rams...Energetic, young, hardworking - yes...but that does not translate into X's and O's...He is a young cocky punk who is going to be in way over his head becoming coach. Word is some assistants from Petrucci's staff and staying as if that does any good for the ringgold program. The district is such a sad disgrace, and will NEVER be good again as probably anything. the district needs a new school board before anything good comes out of the district.

There were two coaches on Petrucci's staff worth keeping. Neither will coach for Lloyd. I guarantee old Coach Charles will weasel his way onto that staff, and the Lord George Overton will be back, and coaching greats like Lyons, Yonkers, Mellenger, etc. will all be back. Never thought I would be tempted to transfer my kids to Monesson for a better education and athletic experience. With all due respect to Wilkinsburg and the City of Pittsburgh Schools, Ringgold does pump out the dumbest kids in Western Pennsylvania, and that is a proven fact not just a disgruntled parent talking. Now we will have the worst athletic programs. Great Move School Board!!!!! Hypocrites, whatever happened to the "we don't want an athletic director head coach"?

Hey school board let's build a new 42 million dollar middle school whenever the teachers salaries are among the worst in the state. How about raising salaries and hiring some quality educators so the students receive the quality education they deserve.

I think that kids from Finleyville,Nottingham, and Union Township should not get categorized as the typical Ringgold idiot. It is some of the people from Mon City and Donora that give Ringgold a bad name. Ringgold has the potential to be a decent school district, but as long as the current school board is in place Ringgold will only remain in stasis.

I always heard that if the world needed an enema, god would stick it in Finleyville. Now I don't know if that's true or not but that's what I always heard. Sorry

I 100% agree with this post anon, sadly it is mainly donora who brings down the district. They always have brought down the academic level in Ringgold for every smart kid from Donora there are 5 from the rest of the areas of the district, and for every bad student from the rest of the district, there are 5 from Donora. Donora has always been the area where the majority of the athletes came from Ringgold, but now those kids believe they are gang bangers so good luck Price trying to get those kids to come out for football when they are only worried about who they are going to shoot at in Monesson next.

The best possible scenerio for kids from Finleyville, Nottingham and Union Townships would be to break away from Ringgold and create there own single A or double A school district that maybe a few neighborhoods from Peters or Canon-Mac would attend to. The only sad reality is that it would probably be impossible to do so because the state would realize if Ringgold was just Donora and Monongahela then it would be a complete waste, and block any such move.

I'm not from Donora or Mon City, but the comments made about the Donora kids is upsetting. Sorry to tell you that there is trouble in every town, the newspaper just happens to spend alot of time telling about the problems of Monessen and Donora. I guess shootings sell newpapers. There are beatings, robberies, and drug dealers in Finleyville as well as any other town. Please get off your high horse if you think Donora kids bring down Ringgold. If a kid from Donora doesn't do the right thing then he shouldn't be allowed to play sports as well as Monongahela kids and Finleyville kids. Don't stereotype, its unbecoming...

The last I checked kids from Finleyville and Monongahela arent going to Peters or Charleroi and shooting up those neighborhoods.

To the person a couple of posts back: It's not stereotyping, and the paper isn't going out of its way to make Donora and Monessen look bad. When kids are running amok shooting one another, that's something that people want to know about, if for no other reason than to stay out of areas where they might get caught in the crossfire. You are correct in saying that every town has problems, but it also is true that some have a lot more problems than others, and right now, Donora and Monessen seem to have a lot more issues than a place like Finleyville.

Let's not forget that there are alot more good kids in Monessen and Donora than the shooting thugs.

LLOYD PRICE = Greatness

Lloyd Price will turn the program around and everyone will still complain. The people from Donora must have finally learned how to get on the internet. I would believe thats the reason for most of these posts.

Oh yeah Donora people are just horrible people. Shooting at people and stuff like that.... But i guess no one finds out about the stuff that goes on in other parts of the district? Cinder blocks being thrown through car windows.. Or the drugs that go on out there are the same out in Finley maybe worse? There are dead beat kids everywhere you look. No matter what city, town, or if they're black or white. Right? But obviously if your your home town is better in your eyes.

I know one thing, if i was gonna make comments about people on a blog, I would at least have the guts to post under my real name. Anybody can post under anonymous or "Donora's Finest". Grow a set and post under your real name or better yet, say it to somebody's face. Signed: the coaching legend, Darryl Yonkers.

Price sucks period point blank. Trust me.... I know. Yonkers is just so great too! He played alot of college football. For that matter.... He played alot of high school football.... NOT. This football year for these kids is a complete waste of time.
