PT-CM baseball

About 30 minutes before the start of the PIAA Class AAAA quarterfinals between Peters Township and Canon-McMillan. Not too many people here yet.

I'll be updating live from the game so keep checking back for scores and some game information.

J.J. who? Dittmar owned peters township today... i guess we see why peters won the wpial, they didnt have to play canon mac

yea exactly... now we see why canon mac won the section and not peters

CM played great. PT couldnt buy a hit. Dittmar kept them in check and whenever they hit one hard, CM's defense was right there. Dittmar, like always, threw a ton of strikes and didnt fall behind many batters. He pitched a gem.

CM was patient at the plate and JJ struggled to throw strikes at times. He relied too much on his fastball and paid the price. Aaron Wiegel played a great game and had a pair of nice hits. His second i believe was a 1-2 fastball that drove in Staab i think. This sticks in my head because i thought it was a terrible pitch call. Wiegel already smacked a single off a JJ fastball and was right on another one he fouled off a pitch or two before. They throw him 4 in a row and he made them pay with a clutch single. Mike Hull, Andre Heydan, and Phil Staab all played big games for CM in this one.

PT had a few errors, some bad throws and I thought the PT outfielders could have made a few plays that they didnt even attempt. And why did they not pull JJ?

CM played a great game and showed who the top dog in the WPIAL is.

Finished filing my story for Friday's paper; thought I'd add a few final thoughts here.

C-M came as close to playing a perfect game as I've seen a high school team play against a quality opponent.

Excellent coaching, timely hitting, patience at the plate and great base running. They hit one of the WPIAL's better pitchers and Chris Dittmar proved that craftiness can be more potent that power.

Now, the challenge for C-M is to forget about this win. Two more wins equals a state championship.

CM dominance showed why they were the best team. Gane over, Scoreboard, no more projecting that PT was the best team in PA/WPIAL history. Peters isn't the best team in there own section! CM is clearly the best team on the field without question in every facet of the game. Next time Peters counts a win against CM when the game doesn't matter (see the last game of the season when CM had already wrapped up the section) and counts that as a "signature win", please refer to the near perfect game played by CM to eliminate them from baseball season of 08. WE ARE CM AND WE ARE PLAYING ON MONDAY.

domination...that's it and that all...it's just domination.

good job canon mac men!!!! tired of hearing so much about the few standout players on peters township baseball club, finally nice to see a TEAM with a roster full of quality players win and to keep on winning. canon mac baseball for years has come up short of domination and oh what a glorious time to do it against cross town rival and mostly stuck-up peters township. VIVA LA BIG MACS!!!!!!!

Looks like canon-mac snuck in once again! After all the coverage on PT, I thought it was supposed to be a pretty one-sided game. Guess it still was! Congrats Canon-Mac boys - you've worked hard for years and its nice to see the rewards! Keep it going!

Congratulations to all the hard working, dedicated young men of the Big Macs Baseball '08 Team!! That goes for the coaches, parents, school staff and school supporters. Great game, well deserved win. GOOD LUCK MONDAY!

Alot of chest thumping for a team that has yet to win ANYTHING but a section title. Lots of teams win section titles, no big deal. PT won the WPIAL, that makes them the number 1 AAAA team in the WPIAL, PERIOD.

CM will not win states, it won't happen, and then when you look back 20 years from now it will still be the same in the record books, PT, 2008 AAAA WPIAL CHAMPS.

I think we will all remember thumping the "best team in the WPIAL" with "the best player ever" on the hill for them.

Peters had more errors than hits lol. Dittmar owned you guys.

Good job both teams. We're from the same zip code (15317). Can't we all just get along?

to previous blogger -- couldn't agree with you more. There is no one on this site as ugly as the jerk who is thumping his chest about PT and the WPIAL title. The one's who should thump their chest are the PT players not childish adults who probably can't catch a ball but want to believe that their venom makes them "part of the team!"

CM congrats on your win; you still have two games to go and I wish you good luck. Bring back the title and the one true statement will be that both the PIAA and WPIAL champs are from Washington County.

Its kinda funny how CM fans have no problem saying that PT is a very good team and will even wish them luck on occasion, yet many PT fans can only say that PT is the better team and that CM will never amount to anything like PT. I think a few PT fans are starting to sweat because they see a CM program that is on the rise.

No doubt that after this amazing season finally ends(hopefully with at PIAA championship) that CM will have some holes to fill and some players that will be missed. However, i think that next years team has a great chance to repeat as section champs, especially when you consider that the majority of the section is losing a lot of talent too. Thats just my warning fire to PT that a new top dog may be in town and its one that is a hell of a lot hungrier.

Are you kidding me. We kept hearing about the great JJ, the potent offensive attack of Peters, and your coached continually stressing how great defensive juggernaut Peters had become. Heck even the O-R had a mid season article on Peters rising up from the ashes after a disastrous start. Did the O-R think that Peters was the only team having to deal with injuries and illness during the season? There in lies the difference between the two teams, CM is a team with 20 very good players and Peters, well they have 5 and hope the rest don’t get in the way. Heck even the Kovak chimed in to state how lucky CM was for having a better draw and predicted that Peters would blow away CM on Monday.
I do have to ask the following question, which bugs me, how do you leave JJ in the game the entire time after getting pummeled. I guess Peters had no other pitcher they thought could stop the CM onslaught. That was as thorough of a butt kicking as I have seen in a long time. And just for grins and giggles, the season series is tied 2 to 2.

To the previous post... I was thinking the same thing re:JJ, CM came back stronger and stronger each inning yet JJ kept pitching through it all. I guess that's really a coaches question to answer...no doubt he has talent but he isn't Merlin..I felt tired for him. And, congratulations to JJ for being recognized nationally. I reiterate previous anon... it's the same zip code so let's keep it all in perspective.

Well Chocolate Truffles has been drafted and I have to say I've lost all respect for the Houston Astros organization. What a weak-willed individual JJ is. I watched the game yesterday and I saw him completely lose his composure as soon as it became clear that this would not be his day.

The next thing the public will hear about JJ is that he is up to 330LBS and attempting to become an NFL lineman. I'm surprised none of the Wild Things staff hit him with a tranquilizer dart and tagged his ear-- MOOOOOOOOOO

As a CM fan, you have to tip your hat to JJ for his talent, his other antics I could do without but there is no questioning the kid can play
