Celebrity Look-alike
Behind the scenes, the Varsity Letters toyed with the idea of starting a new segment called Celebrity Look-Alike where we take a well-known student-athlete or coach from the local scene and compare them to a celebrity.
Well, thanks to O-R staff writer Kevin Jacobsen, we're getting started with a rather humorous one.
On the left is Canon-McMillan boys basketball coach Rick Bell, on the right is some guy named Brett Favre.
Look-alikes? According to at least one C-M basketball fan, these two are splitting images of each other.

You are RIGHT! Every time I see Coach Bell I think to myself:
wow he looks just like a 14 year old Brett Favre???
Some one has been taking too many Track results again!
I do not see similarities between the two but there is a funny story of Coach Bell doing some grocery shopping, bumping into a C-M hoops fan who told him he looks like Brett Favre.
And, for the record, taking one track result is one too many even though I usually enjoy covering and following the sport.
What's so hard about typing in faxed over Track results? Wow. Tough job. Pay some college interns to do it. Or we can have one more piece about the Char Houston softball team... oh wait, I heard they lost today to Ft. Cherry. Guess no section title for them.
Gee, I wonder who left the college intern post.
Make it a little tougher to decipher next time "Anon."
As I've said before, I enjoy covering track and field. I do not enjoy typing in results - faxed or not. We all have parts of our job we don't like, I get to blog about mine. Maybe you can start a track faxing blog.
Though you chose the anonymous label, the O-R will gladly clear off a desk for you if you wish to join us for a week's worth of unpaid internship. I know the spring sports season is a busy one for you "Anon" but maybe you can find an intern to handle your current duties.
We'll be waiting.
I sense a little hostility...
Don't scare away all your readers/posters Mike. Besides, 98% of people on here choose to leave their name anonymous. This is your blog and if you don't want people to criticize it or you, don't make it open to the public. Calling out a reader isn't cool...
Brian,
All these blogs are just "feel good" items for the O/D staff. Most of the responses are from other staffers, and a majority are suck up responses.
Oh well...
Mike Kovak is the greatest high school sports blogger of all time. One of these days I hope to meet him in person. See ya tomorrow by the water cooler. Oops, I mean...When in Rome.
Brian,
I welcome criticism – trust me,I get it all the time. I've even forged professional relationships with people who ripped me before they met me.
But, when someone questions my work ethic, I just might fire back.
As for the 98% anonymous rate, you're right and that's too bad. I don't blog anywhere else but I'm guessing that the norm.
Hope all is right in everyone's world tonight.
Mike, I have one better. You can ask Joe Tuscano or anyone else who has worked at OR sports since mid 80's. Take the Rick Bell picture and compare it to a young Brian Anselmino picture, now that looks identical. FYI Anselmino played hoops at Ringold then Duquesne between 1986 and maybe 1990. Looking forward to the post
