This just in from the WPIAL basketball championships, brothers Terrence and Josh Stepoli have left Greensburg Central Catholic and will return to Monessen this Monday.
The Stepolis played football and basketball at both schools but both left the basketball team at GCC during this season. GCC and Monessen are playing for the WPIAL Class AA title at the Palumbo Center.
They both transferred to GCC last year.
Terrence Stepoli is a senior, while Josh Stepoli is a junior. The younger brother could return to the Greyhounds' football and basketball teams next year. He is also a Division I football prospect.

This is as funny as Trinity hiring Dalton as the football coach. Not sure it's as surprising but it's close at least.
NO SURPRISE THERE...
These two are a train wreck. How could any serious D-1 School give either one of these boys a look with their lack of committment to anything?
Interesting. I'm wonder if there is going to be any eligibility hearings on this.
I would rather read about the success of the current Monessen team winning a WPIAL championship! Kudos to Coach Salvino and his staff for winning a title without their leading scorer. He won with a TEAM effort!!!
there better be! what ever happened to the two transfer rule? The younger brother should be done athletically from this point on.
I'm willing to bet that like with most of these transfer issues....the PIAA will allow him to play next season...It's a Catholic school to boot..just say we didn't have the money to continue to go to school there...it's not like they are coming from Woodland Hills or Gateway...IMHO
I dont care one way or another. It just seems timely that the brothers Stepoli returned right when it was championship time.
Not positive, but I think the two tranfer rule is within one year. One would assume the younger Stepoli didn't transfer until he was at GCC for a year. With all the charter and private school movement in urban schools such as Philadelphia, the chances of the PIAA stopping any athlete from playing after transferring is pretty slim. Get a lawyer and threaten a lawsuit and you can go to school where ever you please! (Keep an eye on Imani Christian when the school enters the WPIAL. The school is attracting athletes from all over the city and eastern districts of Pittsburgh. You may see a small school powerhouse as the enrollment is near 300 K-12). Three out of the four champions in girls and boys A and AA are from private schools. The four finalists in the Philadelphia league are charter or private schools. Do we have a trend here? As previously stated, athlete movement cannot blocked unless a family publicly admits it is for athletic intent.
Does Monessen even want these guys back???
All these transfers cant look good to college coaches.
It doesn't matter whether Monessen wants them back or not - they live in the Monessen school district and unless they get expelled (which they were not) I believe Monessen has no choice but to allow them to transfer back.
Also, Anonymous on March 6 at 5:45p.m. the Stepoli's are not attempting to gain eligibility to play basketball now, so their transfer has nothing to do with it being championship time and everything to do with the fact that they hated it at GCC. Also, Coach Salvino would never allow them to rejoin the team this year.
