The bottom half of the bracket in the PIAA Class AA boys basketball playoffs consists entirely of WPIAL team, with WPIAL champion Monessen among the final four.
The Greyhounds (25-2), winners of 20 straight, play Sto-Rox (23-4) Saturday afternoon, 1:30 p.m. at North Allegheny High School. The game follows another Class AA quarterfinal between Beaver Falls (21-6) and Greensburg Central Catholic (25-3), which is scheduled for noon.
Monessen has yet to face a WPIAL team in the state playoffs, beating Mercyhurst Prep and North Star through two rounds. Sto-Rox defeated Sharpsville and Jeannette to get to this point.

Is it just me, or do you have to drive right past Sto-Rox to get from Monessen to North Allegheny? Just askin'.
Sure do if you take 79N.
We were wondering Wednesday if the Monessen girls beat Bishop Guilfoyle if they would have held a Monessen doubleheader at Canon-McMillan.
Canon-Mac, Char Valley, Gateway, Baldwin, USC, West Allegheny, etc. All of these schools are more centrally located for the boys AA double-header. I just cannot find a good reason for those games being at NA.
The boys AA double header should be at Char Valley if you look at geographical convenience.
The double-header is at North Allegeny because those two games are part of a TRIPLE-HEADER.
PIAA isn't going to rent/operate TWO sites if it can do everything at one. And, on a Saturday, there's no reason it can't be done at one.
Deal with it, or don't show up!
Oh mr. exclamation point!! I can type those too!!! I didn't show up!! I stayed HOME!!!!!
