Props Mike for giving some of Coach's stats, although he is more concerned with us(students) than himself. We are crucified if we do something wrong but these adults on the board (not all of them) just keep making the same mistakes. They just can't see the good this man has brought to all of us. They don't care either, that's really sad. How about the AD even gave Coach the OK nod and so did the Super. This board thinks they are god. So how bout that he gets let go because of a winning season. Let's see who else had a winning season and went to playoffs this Fall? Hmm no one else was let go. Go figure.
What a mindless and despicable decision by 5 of Trinity's Board members tonight! What a shame that PERSONAL AGENDAS would outweigh the will of the ones most hurt by this action, the STUDENTS! Ed Dalton is a class teacher, class coach, and class person, and neither he nor the students of Trinity deserve this childish action! Class, however, is not a word I can use to describe those that voted to remove Mr. Dalton from his coaching duties. I simply wish that any of the 5 would stand up and tell us WHY? If it is not personal than WHY? They have talked about doing this for years, WHY! Why, Why, Why? John Gough
Nick Milchovich had a winning record at PT and was fired.
Get over it people. He's a football coach. There will be a new coach. And if your kid deserves a scholarship, he'll still get one. If he doesn't, Ed Dalton wasn't getting him one.
It's so frustrating to watch these bumbling idiots make the same mistakes over and over. They keep announcing that they are only concerned about education but to date the majority of their decisions have been SPORTS!!
The actions taken by the Trinity Board just shows how much character Ed Dalton has. I don't know how anyone could work under the duress created by the board. Imagine focusing on work, coaching, and your personal life under the stress of knowing that the board is after you and your job. I think Ed had a damn good season considering everything going on in his life. If making the playoffs isn't good enough, then the board should take some of the blame. Maybe if they'd have left him alone, the team may have gotten a little farther. If making the playoffs isn't good enough, are they going to get rid of the new coach if he doesn't make it to the 2nd playoff game?
First, I would like to point out that I do not play football, have a kid playing football(mainly because I don't have one), or any other sort of family member playing football within the school district. I am however, a senior student and play a varsity sport at the school and from a student-athletes point of view, the first mistake was letting Dalton go as the Atheletic Director. Dalton helped me personally with things such as my skills video and telling me how to go about the recruiting process. Also, he always has co-ordinated stuff for graduation (caps, gowns, etc.). I am saying this because our new AD has not been HALF as helpfull as Dalton was for me. I have tried to go and see him and he is never even in school! He says people can contact him when he's out of the office but how is one to do so if he never responds? Also, NOTHING has been done as far as our graduation stuff. By this time last year, the seniors had at least been informed of things they need to do to get things such as invitations and their gowns. Now, onto football, I have many many many friends on the football team. I have NEVER heard any of them say a bad word about Dalton, even ones who did not play much. Dalton was always very supportive of everyone. I remember when I would see him in the halls at school, he was always in such a good mood saying hello to you and asking how you have been (even if you saw him everyday!) The actions taken by this board have just been absolutely terrible. Trinity Athletics will not be the same with the removal of Dalton.
What a sad day for Trinity! We lost a good man but in all honesty, he deserves better! The Board has harassed him continuously for 14 months and through it, he proved to be the bigger person. Our board continues to do whatever they want and has represented the public poorly. They seem to forget that they work for us. They were advised not only be the AD and Superintendent but also the schools two attorneys against this decision. The experts that they hired to advise them are at a loss; they simply don't listen or care what anyone thinks or wants. It's all about them. What goes around, comes around....their day will come. Sincere thanks to Knapp, Salvatori, Keisling and Clemens for doing the right thing for our kids. You were great!
Ed Dalton will be okay, in fact, he'll come out on top because he is the most demanded Football coach in the area. He'll go to another district who will welcome him with open arms and love him like our students do. Our children are the losers here. It's not about a football coach, it's about a man. The harassment this man took in the last 14 months from the school board is pathetic and undeserved. McWreath and Bodnovich went to get their free tickets and parking passes, and attended all football games, including the playoff all the while using their connection to Dalton and plotting to get rid of him. Let's measure the character of our 5 board members against Dalton's...it's a no-brainer. The 7th graders who are lucky enough to have Dalton in class are learning more than history from him and those young boys, who had dreams of playing football for their teacher are extremely upset. I wonder how many of these young athletes will drop out of football and play other sports because Dalton was taken from them. This man took an interest in the future athletes, not just the current ones. Interval stresses that a hand full of people go into her store wanting Dalton gone. Well, guess what, did she happen to look around the auditorium the last 2 meetings? There's more people that want him to stay, but some of our board members make decisions based on their personal feelings instead of the taxpayers that elected them. I hope all 5 get what they deserve.
Trinity School District has been hurt again by the actions of it's school board. These people again show that they have no regard for the students. Mrs. Clutter states that there are reasons for this action but she cannot discuss them. This board has been working towards this since they were elected. Rumors of meetings at area restaurants, at local businesses and even board members rumored to be openly discussing their plans in public have been bouncing around since election day. Now where there is smoke there is normally some fire. Maybe the time has come for these people to be dragged in the light of the public and made to explain and answer for their actions. They sit on a public school board, elected by the public so maybe they should now start to explain to the public what they are doing. Sunshine is the best disinfectant. They must be made to be accountable or their rogue actions will continue. Who is next?
Averaged 5 wins per season? Before Dalton came Trinity's records were 1-9, 1-9, 0-10, 3-7, 6-4, 4-6, 1-9, 6-4, 3-7, 1-9, 2-8. Dalton took Trinity to the play-offs 8 of 12 years and 6 years in a row. For the most part, his team overachieved. His record shows only part of his success. His biggest success comes from the fact that he LOVES our kids! So his accomplishments go way beyond his record. Trinity School Board just doesn't get it!!!
To anonymous 7:22. You, just like 5 members of the Trinity Board, just don't get it! It is not merely about wins and losses but the integrity of the man. His endless efforts on behalf of the students of Trinity can not simply be measured in the W/L category! Talk to the students and honestly listen, the board never did! John
John Gough was SPOT ON! I couldn't have said it better! I am ashamed to say that I graduated from THS at this moment. The board is making a mockery of the school name as well as students and taxpayers. I guess it's back to those fly-by-night coaches that were there for a year and gone and average 1 win a year. How is that in the best interest of students? I also find it funny how the people that downplay Dalton being fired play it safe and don't post their name. Truth doesn't hide. JV
I think it's obvious to anyone that knows Ed Dalton that he is a true gift! Interesting that a Skype interview is set up for Wednesday at 5pm to interview one of the Board Members distant relatives. I know....anyone that has been following this shenanigans isn't a bit surprised by any of this nonsense. There are a few BM that actually want to hire this coach before the 31st so the BM that is resigning can still vote. Now, how do you like that game? They're not fooling anyone but themselves. Really, now. We've watched long enough and we know that this really is about YOU not the students. These agendas will eventually come back to haunt you and most likely your kids and family. You have set Trinity back at least 10 years. You should be ashamed of yourselves! You are an embarrassment!
Yes, the position will be posted in the OR and the PG until the 7th. They have already made up their mind though and tried to hire a BM's relative from Texas last Thursday. A couple of the BM didn't even want to post and interview others. We'll have to wait and see how this all plays out.
Yes, again the Trinity board is trying to sneak 1 past the public again, breaking their own nepotism policy, which lets not forget that the board can rescind any policy they make if it suits them. Hopefully the few members on the board with some morals will stick to their guns and force the others to play by the rules. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.
