Did you know?
Hansen, one of the top scorers in Class AAAA the past two seasons, is being recruited by Division II schools, including members of the WVIAC. ... Washington had its nine-year reign as champions of Section 5-AA snapped last year by Beth-Center. Section coaches believe the Prexies will again challenge for section supremacy but be pushed by Brownsville. ... Fort Cherry and Monessen played last year in the WPIAL Class A quarterfinals, a game won by the Greyhounds. Both teams return the majority of those rosters making the Rangers the favorite to win Section 3 and Monessen the pick in Section 4. ... Fort Cherry and Monessen should be strong, but so should several other Class A teams. Carmichaels returns four starters. So does Chartiers-Houston and Avella.

Once again McGuffey players get overlooked. I remember seeing a girl averaging over 12 points as a sophomore last year. Playing at the AAA level makes it more impressive than an A Level Team. The competition is much better at the AAA Level.

I guarantee Fort Cherry would beat your Mcguffey team by at least 20! Those girls can play!

McGuffey went 1-1 against Class A teams last year. The Highlanders beat Avella by three and lost to Chartiers-Houston by five.

As for the statement that the competition is better at AAA than A, true but I don't recall McGuffey's section being particularly strong last year.

McGuffey and Fort Cherry play tomorrow night and I would expect Fort Cherry to win. They have a great bunch of Juniors that play together not only high school but travel basketball as well. And McGuffey's new section this year is extremely tough, with South Fayette, Chartiers Valley and West Allegheny. All of which would give Fort Cherry a run.

If you take every shot for a bad team, it doesn't make you a good player. Twelve points a game means nothing if you're taking 15 to 20 shots to get there.

Sorry McGuffey fan. Win some games, then come talking.

No one from Ringgold again. This blog is a joke.

Ringgold gets no respect in anything. I have to read idiots saing that Monesson would beat them in football on here. Ringgold was the 2nd best team in teh WPIAL this year in AAA in football.

Kovak you are a disgrace.

Someone is super cranky today.

Geez, lighten up anon. It's a preseason list. Again, it's a preseason list.

Did I mention this is a preseason list?

McGuffey Fan, good game vs Quaker Valley. McGuffey had some good shots taken. Their defense is tough though. One young lady was stride for stride with DeAnn Ryan, now thats impressive. Team work is offense and defense. Keep a watch on McGuffey defense.

McGuffey defense let a single A team score 57 on them

Fort Cherry beat Ringgold and McGuffey...Both schools are AAA and talk about how much credit A schools get when they aren't playing anybody. If you want recognized beat the single A school you criticize because FC beat McGuffey by 25 and Ringgold by 10. Nobody from Ringgold deserves to be on here yet if they can't beat a single A school. They might have athletes but it doesn't mean anything if that athlete can't beat these so called non competitive small schools.

You give spectators of the game a bad name. Sometimes one should keep their thoughts to themselves. Why would you follow the sport if all you can do is criticize other schools. If your such a high school sports fan you would realize that schools are in such brackets according to student enrollment. It's the talent within the players for those schools not the division they are in. Single A to AAAA it's just a division, the rest is the talent of the players.

Grow up, let your kids play and let the ball decide! WPIALs are here. Gone in the 1st round:
Chartiers-Houston, Carmichaels, Bentworth and Avella.
