As the track and field season progresses, invitationals dot the schedule. Monessen will host its second track invitation Saturday starting at 10:30 p.m.
The Washington boys and girls won the meet last year and should be strong contenders to repeat against participating schools Beth-Center, Frazier, West Greene, Jefferson-Morgan, Clairton, Neighborhood Academy and the host Greyhounds.
Trenton Coles, a sophomore from Clairton and member of the Bears' PIAA Class A championship football team, will be one of the featured athletes. As a freshman, Coles was the WPIAL Class AA 400-meter dash champion (49.47). He placed fourth at the state meet with a time of 49.70.
The invitational season continues Friday, April 16 when Peters Township hosts the annual Washington-Greene County Coaches Meet, which is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.

Trenton Coles is a good kid...I hope he puts on a good display today.
Coles was phenominal he ran a 10.8 in th 100 against the wind. monessen was also very strong. washington took 3rd in the boys and 1st in the girls. wash high was without marquis brown and josh wise (who high jumped 6 ft 3 at canon mac)the 4x 1 was exciting monessen ran away with it but second was a photo between wash high and clairton. bryan thomas actually ran coles down.weatherspoon was also impressive. brower was wash highs fastest in the 100 but claiton took 1st and 3rd with the kid from monessen 2nd. wash high did very well in the distance runs. dustin fuller won both hurdle events for washington.
also keep in mind that they keep mentioning coles as being a sophomore. brower is also a sophomore, but he is a 15yr old sophomore as opposed to being a 17 yrs old sophomore. i'm not putting him down, and i wish him all the best he does seem like a good kid.2yrs is a big difference. i can see coles winning states this year.
2 years age is a big difference in high school. coles will be almost 20 when he graduates high school. he'll be 19 his entire senior year.
